The Quebec teachers’ strike turned into a dangerous situation Wednesday when a man driving a car deliberately drove into a teacher standing on the picket line outside of the École secondaire du Triolet in Sherbrooke.
Sherbrooke Police Service (SPS) spokesperson Martin Carrier told The Record that the incident occurred around 9:30 a.m., which is when the strike was scheduled to conclude. The driver in question grew impatient and struck the teacher’s knee.
The 54-year-old suspect drove off immediately following the collision. SPS officers apprehended the man at his home two hours later, according to the spokesperson. An investigation is currently underway. Carrier said the teacher walked away with minor injuries.
