Vincent Gérin, mayor of Ayer’s Cliff and president of the Massawippi Regional Park Board dismissed concerns raised by locals about a jump in price for boat launching onto Lake Massawippi, saying the prices are on par with other areas of the Townships.
Gérin added that another justification for the price increase is to help cover a $500,000 borrowing bylaw from the park board for the construction of a new sanitary block at the beach in Ayer’s Cliff and revamping of the boat launch.
Waterville resident Mark Wright said last year the total cost to get his boat onto Lake Massawippi was $35, which included $20 for boat washing, $10 for the launch and $5 for parking. This year, Wright said the price has jumped to $50. The boat washing price remained stable, but the launch is now $20 and parking is $10.
