Massey Vanier Bantam Boys Basketball team season ends on a high note

Despite not winning any major trophies, the Massey Vanier Bantam Boys Basketball team is walking away winners.

According to head coach Timothy Croteau, the individual and group progress made by the team in the 2022-23 season was “quite incredible”. Highlighting the development the team made throughout the year on the basketball court, the coach said he’s more proud of the life skills gained.

“The boys developed socialization skills, realized the importance of working as a team to succeed in a common goal and built self-confidence,” he said. I am very proud of the progress and know that in the future, they will go on to do amazing things.”

Croteau said heading into the season, most of his team had never had a chance to play any type of organized basketball or ever had the opportunity to experience a game against another school because of COVID restrictions.

Admittingly, Croteau said the year started off shaky. Behind on skill, lacking basketball IQ and physically undersized compared to opponents, the team had a lot of work to do.
