By Emilie Hackett, Special to the Record – Le Comité Interculturel des Aînés hosted its 9th annual intercultural Christmas Banquet on Sunday, Dec. 2 at Du Phare International High School. In association with Actions Interculturelles de l’Estrie (AIDE), the banquet welcomed over 200 attendees of all ages and backgrounds. Abdelilah Hamdache and several volunteers teamed up to prepare their famous turkey couscous as the night’s main meal, which represents the union of cultures and traditions. Mohamed Soulami, director-general of AIDE, explained that “this meal is highly symbolic. We have a Muslim chef preparing a meal for a Christian holiday, serving people of all ethnicities, religions, and backgrounds.” See full story in the Tuesday, Dec. 4 edition of The Record.
