Meals on two wheels

On Wednesday, Sercovie launched a Meals on Wheels by bicycle program, which will see volunteer cyclists deliver hot meals to seniors every Wednesday throughout the summer.

Meals on Wheels is not a new concept to Sherbrooke—in fact, 2023 will mark the program’s 50th anniversary in the area, according to a press release by Sercovie. However, the delivery of these meals via bicycle rather than car is a new concept to the Sherbrooke-based organization.

Sercovie is a specialized activity center for adults 50 years and older, as well as the largest Meals on Wheels program in Quebec and second largest in Canada. The organization will opt for “sustainable” transport over some of the usual delivery cars. “This initiative was one that everyone was really happy about because it touches all the departments of Sercovie.
