Mont Mégantic Observatory celebrates 40 years

This year, the Mont-Mégantic Observatory will celebrate its 40th anniversary and the Mont-Mégantic National Park will mark the anniversary with several different activities.
On April 27, 1978, the Mont-Mégantic Observatory got started and the first scientific observations took place the following autumn. Forty years later, its 1.6-meter telescope still points to the stars, in the first International Dark Sky Reserve.
To mark the 40th anniversary, the Mont-Mégantic National Park team, in collaboration with the team from the observatory, will welcome visitors this summer for additional magical moments. An extra weekend will be added to the Mont-Mégantic Popular Astronomy Festival, and an additional day visit to the observatory will be added in the morning. Finally, anyone born in 1978 will receive a 40 per cent discount on their day ticket to the Observatory and ASTROLab.
