The federal and provincial governments have announced their respective commitments to provide five-year funding to the Mont-Mégantic Observatory. While a shower of shooting stars is expected in the coming days, the good news awaited the observatory’s partners that funding for the major research center is now guaranteed for the next five years.
Compton-Stanstead MP and Minister of International Development Marie-Claude Bibeau, and D’Arcy McGee MNA and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister Responsible for Advanced Education, David Birnbaum, made the announcement Wednesday alongside Université de Montréal Rector Guy Breton, Laval University’s Vice-Rector of Research, Creation and Innovation, Eugénie Brouillet, Observatory Director and UdeM professor, René Doyon, and the Haut Saint-François Prefect, Robert G. Roy. See full story in the Friday, August 10 edition of The Record.
