My Take
The format of a My Take is 150 words – no more, no less – to express an opinion on a different topic each week. This week’s topic was the moose.

By Matthew McCully

I have driven across the country three times, and I have never seen a moose in person.
But as much as I’d like to, I’m not about to drive down the road ask the Capelton moose for an autograph.
She’s been through enough, and something is not right for her to linger there for a whole week.
I know, we shouldn’t interfere with the natural world.
Could you imagine how complicated life would become if we had to set up a roadblock for every Tom, Dick and squirrel that needed to cross the street.
But in this particular case, we’re talking about an animal the size of a horse standing on thin ice, sandwiched between two busy roads.
I’m shocked wildlife protection officers popped by, saw that it was upright and assumed everything’s fine.
That’s like believing a teenager when they say school went great.
