My Take

My Take
The format of a My Take is 150 words – no more, no less – to express an opinion on a different topic each week. This week’s topic was Easter Treats.

Easter egg hunts have always been a fun tradition for the Bouchard family.

My siblings and I would hunt for the 200+ eggs my mom would hide like we’re Harry Potter searching for the Golden Snitch. Elbows were thrown, people got tripped and the hunts were always competitive.

Throughout the years, my siblings got creative – but my brother Rob was an evil genius.

One year, he went as far as intentionally placing a hole in my basket. As I picked up eggs, there he was, collecting on my misfortune.

Although I rarely won this competition, it was always a fun activity. Nobody did it for the candy. It was always for bragging rights.

Over time, my mom got good at finding hiding places.

I can almost guarantee there is still a random glittery egg behind the couch that won’t be found until the Christmas holidays.
