Airlines have recently been in the news for ripping people off by scheduling flights that logistically, statistically, and realistically, they know they wouldn’t be able to follow through on, taking their money regardless. People were getting turned around with no refund or reason, with emails citing the labour shortage as the cause for “safety concerns” without giving a direct explanation for any individual cancellation. So, regulations were put in place to require them to give refunds, and the blame game commenced. The thing is unless hundreds of employees were constantly quitting hours before major flights, why were they scheduled in the first place? If they didn’t have the manpower, and willingly scheduled flights regardless, how can “outside factors” be to blame? It’s all fun and games when they can leach people’s money, but they point fingers as soon as someone needs to be held accountable.
