My Take: By Arianna Myers

The Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games, which officially began today with the opening ceremonies, is already off to a rough start.
Since the start, the people of Japan have made it clear that they do not want the Olympics to happen this year, especially due to Japan’s slow vaccine rollout.
To make matters worse, experts announced in May that daily infections in Tokyo would have to be below 100 in order to safely hold the Olympic Games. However, last Thursday, 1,300 new cases were reported, the highest since January.
Moreover, numerous athletes have already tested positive for COVID-19, forcing them to withdraw from the Olympics. Some of which include U.S. beach volleyball player, Taylor Crabb, Czech Republic table tennis player, Pavel Sirucek, and Dutch skateboarder, Candy Jacobs, among many others.
Therefore, I believe that the Olympic Games should have been postponed for at least another year.
