My Take: By Arianna Myers

Although many people believe that Canada is approaching the beginning of the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, a potential fourth wave may actually be closer than we think.
With the highly contagious Delta variant, experts agree that more than 90 per cent of Canadians need to be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus to reach herd immunity. However, while Canada is equipped with enough vaccines to vaccinate everyone twice, just over 60 per cent of the population is fully vaccinated. To make matters worse, health professionals say that the vaccination rate is beginning to slow down significantly.
I truly believe that too many Canadians are being complacent and are willing to put their friends and family at risk. I hope that common sense will prevail, and that people who are vaccine-hesitant will follow public health advice so that Canada can avoid a potential fourth wave.
