My Take: By David Rossiter

I interviewed a man last week about why he would refuse the AstraZeneca vaccine. In my opinion he made some good points.
Personally, I would take whichever vaccine offered to me. But I’m a healthy 20-year-old. The man I talked to explained that for him, a 64-year-old with health issues, he deserves better than the chance he’ll be offered the third choice for a vaccine. He was worried about the low effectiveness rate of AstraZeneca compared to the Pfizer and Moderna shots, especially in seniors.
Reports of blood clots stemming from the vaccination have further worried the general public who know they have a solid chance of receiving this vaccine at their appointment. It’ll be interesting to see how this shakes out and affects vaccination numbers and rates, especially since, at least in Quebec, you can’t choose which vaccine you receive.
