My Take: By Gordon Lambie

This morning my older daughter asked me what my favourite season is, and I gave her a wishy-washy answer because I am bad at having firm opinions on things. Reflecting on it, though, I think that early fall might be in the top four.
I’m talking about the fall of late September and early October, where you can wear a sweater but no coat outside and everything is bright and breezy, not the November fall that’s just grey and wet and cold, where my backyard is a soup of rotten crabapples not yet hidden by the snow.
There are a lot of things to feel sad, and scared, and angry about right now, and it is important to take those things seriously, but it’s also really pretty outside for the moment and, this fall especially, we need to remember to enjoy that while it lasts.
