On Tuesday Quebec’s Premier referred to questions about the holidays as Quebec’s “great obsession.” That phrasing left me feeling a bit judged.
Can we blame people for wondering when Christmas is held up every day as the motivational carrot?
I’m at the disadvantage of writing this before whatever announcement was made Thursday evening, but setting aside the fact that we’re way past possibility of a “normal” Christmas no matter what people do, it’s not just hope for time off from our collective trauma that is fuelling this “obsession”. Questions about what comes next have very practical reasons for existing, particularly for those with children.
Anyone who has to balance work and kids at home for an unknown period of time without being able to go anywhere or see anyone is going to want to have a clear idea to work from as soon as possible.
