The format of a My Take is 150 words – no more, no less – to express an opinion on a different topic each week. The topic this week was: the municipal elections.
With election day coming up, it’s a good idea to check out who is taking the time to be present in the community and get to know the people they are offering to lead, if you haven’t already.
There’s a lot of understandable cynicism around politics, but when a candidate really works to get out there and engage with people beyond their own base, it tends to show in the decisions that they make while in office.
That’s not to say that towns and villages where new councils will be sworn in without a single vote being cast are out of luck, but it does make it that much more important to ensure that council members aren’t just resting on their
laurels.
These people are supposed to be our representatives. It’s probably a good idea to know who they are and what they stand for.
