The format of a My Take is 150 words – no more, no less – to express an opinion on a different topic each week. This week’s topic was Deja Vu.
There is so much about the holiday season that is based in the idea of doing the same things, in the same way, year after year.
We sing the same songs, we make the same recipes, we spend time with the same people, playing the same games and, in some cases, having the same conversations.
When it’s nice, we smile and call it tradition.
This will be our second non-traditional Christmas, and it’s hard to find any kind of silver lining in that.
Even if particularly those of us in the Eastern Townships have been able to see this outcome on the way for at least a month, if not more, it’s a disappointing kind of déjà vu.
But it’s also the reality we have to deal with.
Hopefully we can all find something in this mess that will make us smile.
