The format of a My Take is 150 words – no more, no less – to express an opinion on a different topic each week. This week’s topic was elections.
When we started writing these My Takes they were a once-in-a-while thing that came up on a whim, but with the transition to doing them once per week there is now a much greater chal-lenge of avoiding repetition. That comes both as a group, picking topics (when’s the last time we talked about this?) and in monitoring myself (have I said this before?).
I sat down to write this morning and got about 120 words in before realizing that I was just repeating an opinion on voting that we’ve all heard before. With municipal, federal, and now provincial votes all having taken place in the span of about one year, it feels kind of like it’s all been said and done at this point.
As much as I think it’s important, it’s going to be refreshing to not have another election in six months’ time.
