My Take: By Matthew McCully

Should we really be worried about keeping up with the Joneses right now?
One of the most toxic parts of my personality is comparing myself to others.
Regardless of how good or bad they seem compared to me I’m not walking in their shoes. I’m not waking up every morning with the same aches and pains. And most importantly, I’m only responsible for my own actions, so I work with what I’ve got.
It is bad form in the beyond for our government to try and distract the public from our shortcomings as a society by claiming other people are doing worse.
There are no winners here. A death count should not be posted like a scoreboard.
We spent most of the first wave of the pandemic with a we’re not there yet mantra.
I guess the second wave mantra is we’re not them yet.
