My Take: By Matthew McCully

The format of a My Take is 150 words – no more, no less – to express an opinion on a different topic each week. This week the topic was what we look forward to with spring.

What I look forward to most about spring is getting back out onto the pickleball court.
I started playing three years ago and haven’t looked back.
Sure, it’s fun to play inside, but the sport was designed to be played outdoors, and the fresh air and sun is an added bonus.
What I don’t understand is why there aren’t more people playing pickleball.
It’s one of those magical sports that appeals to athletes of all levels, and has a friendly, less competitive vibe than other sports.
The equipment is also a lot cheaper than a set of golf clubs or a fancy tennis racquet.
So that’s my plug. If you’re looking for something fun to do this summer and get some exercise, give pickleball a try.
Players can maintain a safe distance and use their own ball to avoid contact.
But fair warning: it’s addictive.
