My Take: By Matthew McCully

The format of a My Take is 150 words – no more, no less – to express an opinion on a different topic each week. This week the topic was Bill 96.

If only our government were as committed to protecting Quebecers as it is protecting the French language.
Is this really the time to bolster bureaucratic bullmerde and preserve the population’s right to order un hut dug instead of a hotdog?
Read the room, mes amis.
This bill is about power, not language, and it’s a complete overstep.
The last one, hopefully.
Maybe it was the obedience of the population during the pandemic that made leaders think they could double down while they had the upper hand and the population would acquiesce.

It is a privilege to have been born in a bilingual province with a unique culture and the added opportunities of a second language.
And leaving should be anyone’s right.
