The format of a My Take is 150 words – no more, no less – to express an opinion on a different topic each week. The topic this week was: sweater weather.
My love of sweater weather runs deep.
When I was small, my mom knit most of my clothes.
I’m the youngest of five, so there’s very little photographic evidence to back that up, but trust, I had some super cozy, super cute wool onesies.
I remember the sound of the needles clicking together and being mesmerized watching my mom’s finger, darting at light speed to hook the yarn and complete the stitch.
She stopped knitting as we got older, but in my teens, I begged her to take it up again and make me one of those lovely cable knit fisherman’s sweaters.
She went out and bought a ton of wool, found the needles and got to work.
Then about four inches into the pattern, she lost interest and just bought me a new sweater.
My sister unraveled the wool and made herself a scarf.
