My Take: By Matthew McCully

The format of a My Take is 150 words – no more, no less – to express an opinion on a different topic each week. The topic this week was: Air Canada’s CEO

The only thing you should ask a CEO for is a raise.
They can keep their opinions and social commentary for the back of the limo.
And don’t compare them to the average Canadian or Quebecer.
They are far removed from the struggles of life.
I’m not saying they aren’t human, with feelings and all that. But they’re not exactly tuned into the daily grind.
Sure, they probably do 60-80hr work weeks and manage extraordinary responsibilities under a ton of stress, but they are so cushioned by privilege it’s ridiculous to think the CEO of Air Canada should learn how to order his Starbucks in French. He’s not going into the store to get it. He has people to do that for him.
The big fail here wasn’t hiring someone who doesn’t speak French, it was putting him in front of a microphone in Montreal.
