Long gone are the days of people restricting their remarks to the weather.
But as quickly as the internet opened up Pandora’s box, all the little trolls that came flying out will soon enough get their comeuppance.
CBC has disabled the comments section on it’s Facebook page.
The Record has a much smaller audience, so our comments section is still open. But rest assured, I’m watching. And whenever someone goes too far, the first thing I do is check their profile out.
Sometimes it’s clearly a fake account that I can easily report. Other times I see family portraits, outings to the beach with friends, home renovations… I wonder if these people would repeat what they wrote online to their own family members or co-workers.
What if the people they had targeted were to show up at their doorstep and say hey, you hurt me?
