My Take: By Matthew McCully

The format of a My Take is 150 words – no more, no less – to express an opinion on a different topic each week. This week’s topic was winter rain.

February, from the Latin for ‘the month that kicks you while you’re down.’

Like the bitter cold of January wasn’t bad enough, now let’s mix it up a bit and really make it miserable. One day shinny hits its stride, the next, players are slipping galoshes over their skates, looking for a golf course.

And let’s sprinkle in a little emotional turmoil with Valentine’s Day, so single people nursing a vitamin D deficiency can be reminded their plus one is Netflix.

February feels like Mother Nature lost a bet.

Knock, knock. Who’s there? Sweater weather. Sweater weather who? Oh wait, no it’s frostbite.

You know the weather is a mess when even your dog is like, “what’s up with the snow?” Like, it’s hard as a rock, but every 12 steps a paw falls through.

February is the waiting room of months… with ugly wallpaper.
