My Take: By Matthew McCully

The format of a My Take is 150 words – no more, no less – to express an opinion on a different topic each week. This week’s topic was unmasked.

I see the government decided to go full circle with the mask mandate so that it can end with as much confusion as it was introduced with.

Remember all the back and forth? You don’t need it, maybe you need it, make your own, don’t make your own, you definitely need one but we don’t have any…and so on.

Now the very arguments used to defend the mask requirement are being used to ditch it.

We can’t ask 8.5 million Quebecers to continue wearing masks to protect a small portion of the population, interim public health director Luc Boileau says.

It’ll be up to personal choice.

Whatever happened to we’re in this together? If not for yourself, do it for the people you love?

I feel like an opportunity to err on the side of caution was missed in favour of setting Quebecers free. #election2022.
