My Take: By Matthew McCully

The format of a My Take is 150 words – no more, no less – to express an opinion on a different topic each week. This week’s topic was April Fools

Fools don’t just surface on April 1.
I know it’s not the healthiest of daily affirmations, but most mornings I get up, look at the news and say to myself, “This has got to be a joke.”
Instead of April Fool’s being a day for pranks, I think it should be repurposed into an annual 24-hour window to claw back the most foolish thing you’ve said or done all year.
April Remove Foot from Mouth Day.
In all seriousness though, I love jokes, but I hate pranks.
Give me a play on words, a witty bumper sticker or an “it’s funny cause it’s true” zinger any day. But spare me the saran wrap across the door frame, the hoaxes, the fake news. It’s way too believable these days.
Think your prank would be funny?
Try it on your pet. They are great barometers for buffoonery.
