My Take: By Matthew McCully

The format of a My Take is 150 words – no more, no less – to express an opinion on a different topic each week. This week’s topic was the upcoming election.
Wouldn’t it be fun if David Attenborough commentated election campaigns in real time?
It would certainly make them more palatable.
Here’s a campaign speech I would vote for:
Dear Quebecers, my party just did some quick math, and it turns out things are not great.
We have polluted our air, land and waterways to a point where we are making ourselves sick.
We have underfunded our healthcare and education systems to a point where they are on the brink of collapse.
We have placed more value on the economy than we have the population.
But vote for us, and we can fix it all with this new and innovative three-step plan:
We’ll start by blaming the previous party in power for the province’s shortcomings.
Then we’ll do all the same things they did, but expect a different result.
And then we’ll retire with inflated pensions.
