My Take: By Matthew Sylvester

By Matthew Sylvester

Knowing what we know… That doesn’t seem like all that tough a thing to do, does it? But I think that knowing, and I mean really knowing what it is we actually know, is the most complicated and important endeavour we commit ourselves to. There are whole professions based around just this. Scientists who try to separate facts from fiction using data, philosophers who make us question our most basic beliefs. Knowing what we know is the one thing that sets us apart in the universe. We question our instincts and do our best to figure out how the world really works. Sometimes though, when we think we really know something a little too much, it can lead down all sorts of crazy paths of disinformation and confusion. So know what you know, and know that you might not know what you don’t know too!
