My Take: By Michael Boriero

This is it people. We’re in the home stretch. We’re entering a pivotal lockdown to quash the spread of COVID-19 with more restrictions, heavier fines and even an early evening curfew.
But while the government’s recent announcement was meant to be a hard stance on Quebecers skirting the rules, the premier once again failed to hit the mark.
It’s impossible to deny the province needs to do something about the increasing number of positive cases reported on a daily basis. The press conference, however, was tone deaf.
Legault had the gall to tell Quebec’s homeless population that they will also be required to comply with the 8 p.m. curfew. An ignorant and irresponsible statement if I’ve ever seen one.
To say there are plenty of spaces available for them is disrespectful. These people are vulnerable, and now they are being threatened with fines.
