My Take: By Michael Boriero

I don’t think it’s a stretch to assume most Canadians were left speechless as we watched a pro-Trump mob storm the Capitol building.
This is the finale Trump has been building towards for over a year — arguably his entire four-year term. Armed civilians looting and vandalizing one of the so-called pillars of democracy.
The image of a man waltzing through the building, waving a confederate flag is both striking and utterly terrifying, especially after a summer dominated by Black Lives Matters protests.
There is a real and dangerous divide in the United States of America, and nothing could have exemplified that fact better than the lack of response from government and police.
But don’t get me wrong, we aren’t much better. We are heading down the same path. Just ask the Sipekne’katik First Nation in Nova Scotia how they feel right now.
