My Take: By Michael Boriero

Remember when we changed a section in our national anthem from “in all thy sons command” to “in all of us command” and it really didn’t affect the fabric of Canadian culture at all?
Well, it bothers me that somehow there are still people out there struggling to comprehend the value in adapting our everyday language to be more inclusive, and gender neutral.
This isn’t about being ‘woke’, it boils down to simply being respectful to the people around you. Why does a person’s choice of pronouns cause such confusion, and in some cases, fury?
If you’re on Twitter, you’ll notice many people added ‘he/him’ or ‘she/her’ to their bio. I didn’t understand it at first, but I asked friends with knowledge of the situation to explain it to me.
No one should scoff at this shift in language. We need to listen and learn.
