My Take: By Michael Boriero

Premier Legault is out here trying to claim the word ‘woke’ now. I mean at this point nothing can really surprise us, right? These past two years have given us a few strange moments.
I think the best part is watching Quebec’s politicians engage in a lively discourse over the meaning of the term on social media. Apparently, it means guilt-tripping Quebecers.
Yes, Legault took time out of his press conference to clarify that he believes ‘woke’ people are those who make Quebecers feel guilty about defending their values, and nation.
He specifically mentioned defending Bill 21, you know, the law that bans public servants in positions of authority, like teachers, from wearing visible religious symbols, including hijabs.
But listen, if you don’t want people to call out Quebec for being, well, racist, then maybe don’t create laws that are inherently racist and discriminatory.
