My Take: By Michael Boriero

While I can see the benefits of postponing the mandatory vaccination deadline for healthcare workers in Quebec, I’m struggling to understand how this will all change in a month.
Sure, the government avoided a major, and potentially chaotic, breakdown of the health system, with more than 20,000 employees on the cusp of temporarily losing their jobs.
But will pushing the deadline back a few weeks really convince any of these unvaccinated healthcare workers from getting the vaccine? I’m willing to bet against it.
They made their decision a long time ago, just like the thousands of Quebecers who continue to refuse the vaccine. The problem, though, is those people don’t work in hospitals.
This is just setting up another game of chicken in a month from now. And I don’t think the results will change unless Quebec follows through with its threat of job suspension.
