My Take: By Michael Boriero

My Take: By Michael Boriero

The format of a My Take is 150 words – no more, no less – to express an opinion on a different topic each week. This week’s topic was Deja Vu.

It appears we have come full circle since last holiday season. Ok, we don’t have a curfew (yet), and we’re not in a complete lockdown (again, yet), but it sure feels the same.
Try not to see anyone outside of your bubble. Avoid crowded spaces. Theatres, gyms, and bars are closed, although restaurants remain open (for now). It’s just all too familiar.
And honestly, I’ve been a complete buzzkill all week because of these announcements. I think I speak for everyone when I say I’m utterly exhausted, and discouraged to see we’re back to this.
I’m trying to remain hopeful. The numbers are quite obviously overwhelming with over 9,000 cases today. But it’s too early to say whether Omicron will be as severe as Delta.
Let’s just hope we’re out of this soon. I don’t know if I can handle any more lockdown Tik Toks.
