We’re all experts in something right? Or at least, we think we are. It could be sports, politics, and even medicine. And why? Well, because we have access to a literal endless amount of information resting in our hands.
The ease at which we can back our own dubious claims, without any prior research, is truly astounding. Seriously, who hasn’t gone to WebMD only to crawl out five minutes later with a self-diagnosed debilitating disease.
Unfortunately, this is just a reality we need to live with these days. We all live inside these little echo chambers of information that we want to hear, and that back our beliefs, and that support our view of the world.
I don’t know if there’s any way to fix this. The internet isn’t going to suddenly stop. And with it, the power to misinform continues to grow unabated.
