My Take: By Michael Boriero

Knowing what we know about Quebec summer weather, I always find it hard to believe people are surprised by heatwaves every year.
Our province has pretty extreme weather. Our winters are bitter and dry. And our summers can reach devastatingly hot temperatures.
I know we can’t all afford the luxury of air conditioners, central cooling systems, or swimming pools. I for one live in a squelching hot apartment.
I like to pretend that my two tall fans are getting the job done, but realistically they’re just blowing around hot air. And when I use the stove to make dinner. Forget about it.
My point is the heat can be unbearable. There is no doubt about that. And we’re all experiencing varying degrees of summer heat.
Remember, you can’t beat the sun. So, find a place to cool off. A large tree will do you wonders.
