My Take: By Michael Boriero

The format of a My Take is 150 words – no more, no less – to express an opinion on a different topic each week. This week’s topic was the Liberal-NDP agreement

It seems that the federal Liberals and NDP are ruffling feathers, mainly the Conservatives, in Ottawa these days with a backdoor deal that will help Trudeau maintain power until 2025.

They’re calling it a supply-and-confidence agreement, as the two parties have agreed to work together on several key areas, like climate change, health care, and economic growth.

The goal, ultimately, is to avoid an early election call. And while I understand why the Conservatives are upset about the deal, can you really blame Trudeau for doing it?

Trudeau has been feeling the heat lately. And the Conservatives have been gaining steam in the polls. This just maintains his tenuous position at the head of the table.

This is a politician doing political things to keep any semblance of power. He shored up his defences, and now the Conservatives are upset. So be it.
