My Take: By Michael Boriero

My Take: By Michael Boriero

The format of a My Take is 150 words – no more, no less – to express an opinion on a different topic each week. This week’s topic was Roe v. Wade.

It frustrates me that in 2022 the United States, land of the free and self-proclaimed greatest country in the world, is about to roll back the clock on women’s rights by about 50 years.
There’s no telling what will come of the leaked initial draft majority opinion. People seem hopeful that there is still time to persuade the Supreme Court to uphold Roe v. Wade.
This unprecedented leak has me feeling angry and discouraged. Women have been fending off the anti-abortion crowd for decades, and now everything they’ve fought for is about to unravel.
And if you think this won’t seep into Canada, then I hate to break it to you, but you’re sadly mistaken. Canadian conservatives have often tried to stifle abortion rights in the country.
Why are people, and let’s be honest, mostly men, so hellbent on controlling a woman’s body?
