The format of a My Take is 150 words – no more, no less – to express an opinion on a different topic each week. This week’s topic was the Royal visit.
Why is there still so much fanfare for the royal family when they visit Canada? I don’t know if this is blasphemous for me to say, but I really have never paid any attention to them.
Is it the fairy tale aspect of it all that attracted swaths of Ottawa residents to the ByWard Market on Wednesday? Are people just entranced by the monarchy? The lifestyle?
I quite literally found out about the royal tour roughly an hour before writing this my take. Maybe I’m just uncultured, I don’t know, but I can’t name anyone from the royal family.
Well, besides Queen Elizabeth, of course, since she has been around for basically forever at this point. I’m not knocking anyone who follows the family religiously. It’s just not my thing.
It has no impact on my life. And I’m perfectly fine with my limited knowledge.
