My Take: By Michael Boriero

My Take: By Michael Boriero

The format of a My Take is 150 words – no more, no less – to express an opinion on a different topic each week.
This week’s topic was convocation.

I can’t help but crack a smile knowing that graduating students at Bishop’s will have a chance to attend a full, in-person convocation ceremony, side-by-side with their classmates.
In hindsight, I took my graduation experiences for granted. It always felt like a chore, sitting in a stuffy auditorium, and listening to the names of people you don’t know called up on stage.
But if I were still a student today, given everything we’ve been through, I’d give anything to be back in that dimly lit room with hundreds of parents cheering on their kids.
It’s a special moment, and one that deserves recognition. It finally hit me during my graduate diploma convocation. You realize how much effort you and your classmates put in.
I hope every graduate, past and present, heading to Lennoxville for the weekend remembers to take it all in.
