My Take: By Michael Boriero

The format of a My Take is 150 words – no more, no less – to express an opinion on a different topic each week. This week’s topic was Father’s Day.

Father’s Day has taken on a new meaning for me this year. And no, I’m not a father. Not yet, at least. But many people around me have recently been blessed with children.
One of my closest friends became a father in March. My brother-in-law became a father last August, and my uncle has twins, a boy and a girl, who are about to turn one in July.
The most eye-opening thing for me has been watching them adjust their lifestyles. No more playing sports every night, or spontaneously gathering with friends for a 5 à 7 on Friday.
Sleep has virtually been thrown out of the window for most of the newly anointed fathers I know. But it doesn’t seem to bother them. It’s like this switch went off. Dad mode activated.
So, if you see this, Happy Father’s Day, fellas.
