My Take: By Matthew McCully

The format of a My Take is 150 words – no more, no less – to express an opinion on a different topic each week. This week’s topic was the Freedom Convoy

I am genuinely worried about what will happen when this freedom convoy reaches Ottawa.
I know that in the beginning the motives were genuine, and I can understand the anger and frustration people feel about the pandemic and restrictions, and everyone just wants things back the way they were.
But the convoy has picked up a whole lot of cargo that wasn’t on the manifest, and it’s trucking down the Trans-Canada along with hundreds of disenfranchised people who seem determined to leave an impression.
And it saddens me that it’s all being wrapped in a Canadian flag.
I sincerely hope there are enough sensible people in the mix to recognize how volatile the situation has become, and those people take the lead when the time comes.
There is nothing Canadian about throwing a tantrum. We know better than that. We can do better than that.
