Nearing 700 new Covid cases in Quebec

Quebec is reporting 699 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people infected since the beginning of the pandemic to 390,613. There are currently 5,058 active cases in the province. According to public health, 374,266 people have recovered from the virus.
One new death was reported, for a total of 11,289 deaths in Quebec.
Hospitalizations remained stable at 138. Patients in intensive care increased by two for a total of 42.
The CIUSSS de l’Estrie-CHUS will post a detailed local update on Friday. According to the INSPQ website, the number of active cases in the region was 186 on Thursday, up 14 from the day before.
Vaccination rates continue to climb slowly but surely. In Quebec, 81 per cent of the eligible population 12 and up is considered adequately vaccinated, while 87.2 per cent have received at least one dose.
