New challenges facing prison education  programs

The year 2020 has seen disruptions to all kinds of different programs in the public sphere, but it has also had an impact on programs that, while less visible, also play an important role in society. This is the case with the training and educational services run through provincial detention centres like the Talbot Prison in Sherbrooke.
Under normal circumstances the training programs form a part of the “social reinsertion,” work of the establishment, helping to reintegrate people who have been incarcerated back into society. According to a written statement offered by a representative of the Ministry of Public Security (MSP), the realities of this year’s quarantine measures have meant limitations on what is possible at different points in the year.
