Dorma Filtration’s N99 respiratory masks are safe and viable for Quebec workers, according to the Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST).
Medical masks need to be certified in order to meet the highest standards of protection against COVID-19, the CNESST explained in a press release. It is “the last line of defence” for frontline workers, the organization continued.
CNESST worked with its partner, the Institut de recherche Robert-Sauvé en santé et en sécurité du travail (IRSST), which is a lab that tests respiratory protective equipment. They needed to wait for the results from the IRSST to give Dorma Filtration the green light.
The tests concluded that the N99 mask reduces exposure to air contaminants, like COVID-19,
and it is up to 99 per cent efficient. Labour Minister Jean Boulet said he is pleased with the findings from the CNESST, especially for a Quebec-made product.
“This will allow employers and workers to have more masks that meet the highest standards of quality and performance in terms of occupational health and safety,” said Boulet.
