Thanks to a collaboration between the City of Sherbrooke and the Sherbrooke Rotary Club, a new mixed media sculpture has been installed along the pedestrian path of Lac des Nations.
Made of granite and metal, the sculpture, designed to recognize the 100th anniversary of the local Rotary Club, was unveiled at a ceremony on Wednesday.
In 2019 the club turned 100. It was then that member Maryse Garand came up with the idea to mark the occasion with a permanent fixture in Sherbrooke.
Garand came up with a concept and then local sculptor Pascale Archambault was hired to build the design. The sculpture project was two years in the making.
