The Petersham Curling Club(est 1960) has a Canadian connection . It is the sister club to the Border Curling Club (est. 1955) in Beebe, Qc, Reason being that the well-known company Butterfields, which employed Canadians and Americans in Rock Island (Stanstead) for over a century, opened a branch of the company near Petersham (Athol, Mass). The president of this new branch transferred from Rock Island and was an avid curler and thus helped to open the Petersham Curling Club.
