As the Quebec holiday season shifts from focusing on gift-giving and towards the future, Operation Nez Rouge continues to provide safe rides for those returning home from their holiday festivities. Catching up with André Plourde, who’s been volunteering with Operation Nez Rouge for the last decade, and with whom the Record spoke in November the week of the 2022 campaign’s launch, Plourde said that despite the inclement weather last week and over Christmas weekend, they were able to do the service for the entirety of their listed hours.
According to a press release from Dec. 15, the Operation’s halfway point, 9,603 volunteers across the province have travelled the roads of Quebec to provide 10,503 rides. Locally, however, due to a lack of volunteers, Nez Rouge Sherbrooke was unable to fulfill every request for a ride over the weekend.
