Sherbrooke Police (SPS) arrested nine people over the weekend while responding to a fight on Wellington Street, outside Bar Le Magog. The fight, taking place toward the end of a punk music concert. Three of those arrested face charges of assaulting the police officers at the scene. One of them, a 25-year-old man, was detained for an appearance in court over the weekend.
According to an SPS press release, police were called to a fight that began around 1 a.m. on Friday/Saturday night. The official release describes officers responding to a fight outside of the bar, and that during the arrest of an unidentified individual, a “crowd of about 100 people” surrounded the officers and “obstructed” their work. According to the release, several patrol vehicles were sent to the scene, at which point people continued to “surround, insult, intimidate and push,” the officers.
